A Closer Look

I like to get unusual angles of flowers, but my limited mobility sometimes makes it impossible for me to achieve my vision. Thank goodness I have a willing nephew and niece who have served as my “photographer’s assistants” in the past. A few years ago on Easter I saw our crocuses by the driveway were just starting to bloom, and I thought a shot of them down at their level would be interesting. I asked my nephew Stephen if he could help me. He instantly flung himself on the ground and captured this delightful photo for me. This photo is featured as one of the 5 cards in a set of Tiny Spring Flowers for $12.

This week’s card is part of a set of four for only $6! These are small 3″x5″ cards that work great for when you don’t have a lot to say. They also make perfect Get Well cards for people in the hospital who aren’t allowed flowers in their room or don’t want the hassle of taking home or caring for fresh arrangements. These bouquets don’t need water and will never die!

This card is part of my Fresh Pickins’ collection. I am working on larger cards with glossy photos, but right now these small ones with the photos printed in a matte finish right on the cards are available on the website.

My father likes to pick fresh flowers and put them in a small vase above the kitchen sink for my mother. This arrangement features tiny white Lilies of the Valley, which grow right outside our kitchen door. I’m not sure what the yellow flowers are; can anyone help with that?

This week’s card features a goldfinch. In late winter these birds are a dull yellow, but that color seems bright compared to the gray background of the bare trees in our woods. I took this photo on 2/25/23. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve seen birds “posing” on top of the bird feeder poles. I almost always get a blurry photo. This time I was doubly thrilled – first, because I saw a goldfinch (which means Spring is coming), and second, because I actually got a clear shot of it! The photo looks a bit dull, but I didn’t want to enhance with too much contrast; I think the muted colors perfectly fit the season.
